Book Club Meeting

On the morning of Saturday, June 28, 2008, I had the sheer pleasure of meeting with an exceptional group of young readers (ages 11-16) called Divine Divas Book Club. 

The gathering was held in a private meeting room at the Holiday Inn Express Hotel in Raleigh, NC. It was a well-organized event and the attendance was great. The festivities began with an opening prayer and the gracing of the food, which was followed with a delicious catered brunch.  Ms. Tanya Kearney, and her assistant, Ms. Kim, facilitated the meeting which kicked off with word games based on biblical scriptures.  It was the perfect ice-breaker. The girls were a little shy at first, but after a while, they warmed up and we had a lively discussion about my debut title, Living Consequences. 

The meeting concluded with me signing copies of both Living Consequences and the new sequel, Testing Relationships, which is the chosen read for their August meeting.

As an added bonus, one of my favorite writers, national bestselling author, Jacquelin Thomas, was present for the meeting. What an honor! My mom, national bestselling author, Kendra Norman-Bellamy was also present, along with my publicist, Terrance Wooten, who drove us from Atlanta to Raleigh and then back to Atlanta.  Other adults - parents of the book club members - were also in the building as a show of support.  It was a wonderful experience.
